San Francisco Friends School, a K–8 Quaker school located in the Mission District of San Francisco, seeks an experienced middle school mathematics teacher for the first semester of our upcoming school year: August 17, 2020– April 30, 2020.

The school seeks teachers who resonate with the Friends school mission, which provides an exemplary education in a community dedicated to problem-solving, service to others, simplicity, social justice, and quiet reflection. Our Quaker mission also compels us to create a diverse and inclusive community; we seek a person who will thrive and contribute to such a community, both within and beyond the walls of the school.

Note: In the event of a closure of SFFS or some or all of its facilities or operations for any reason, including but not limited to any fire, power outage, war, governmental action, act of terrorism, pandemic, epidemic or natural disaster, SFFS may find it necessary to extend, shorten, or cancel the SFFS program, to continue certain operations through alternative means or at an alternative location and/or to modify employees’ work schedules or duties.

Preferred Qualities:

– Three or more years of experience teaching middle school mathematics

– Knowledge of current pedagogy and facility with hands-on and project-based instruction

– Openness to and interest in Quaker philosophy

– Highly collaborative and creative team player
