The Middle School Library Teacher effectively develops the school’s collection, including catalog development, manages readers’ advisory, and imbues students with lifelong curiosity and a passion for the written word. The Library teacher collaborates with faculty to integrate the teaching of information literacy skills, research skills and digital citizenship into existing units of subject-area content. Working in partnership with the Lower School Library Teacher, the two library teachers will manage the Alexandria Online Catalog.
The Middle School Library teacher also co-teaches a course called Research & Design with the Technology Integrationist to 7th and 8th graders. The course meets once a cycle, and develops student’s design thinking and research skills through a series of real-world design projects. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are needed to guide a group of twelve to fourteen Middle School students during Advisory, which meets twice a week.
