Position Overview

Lick-Wilmerding High School currently seeks a part-time math (40% FTE) teacher starting in the Fall of 2019.

Responsibilities

The teaching assignment includes teaching two classes, as well as participation in department and faculty meetings and co-curricular responsibilities. In general, a part-time teacher will be on campus every other day. The position may be increased to 60% with the addition of advising and related campus activities. LWHS Faculty are expected to provide support and work with students outside of dedicated class time, as well as participate in department and faculty meetings and co-curricular responsibilities, to be pro-rated for part-time employees.

This teacher will teach two classes with one or two preps, which may change from year to year. This teacher also should expect to be available to students for individual help outside of class.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Powerful understanding of mathematics through calculus and statistics.
  • Ability and desire to teach at all levels of the high school curriculum.
  • Experience with student-centered math pedagogy that values understanding and reasoning over rules and algorithms.
  • A commitment to equity and culturally responsive instruction in the math classroom, which gives all students the opportunity to learn and to demonstrate what they have learned.

  • Engage in continual professional development to grow mathematical knowledge for teaching, pedagogical content knowledge, and knowledge of students as learners of mathematics.
