San Francisco University High School wishes to announce a full-time opening for an instructor of History. The position will involve teaching both Honors US History and our 9th grade World History course, which focuses on Mexico in the Fall and one among a variety of world cultures (India, China, the Middle East, or Africa) in the Spring. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in and experience teaching non-western history. We seek candidates who have the strength and academic experience to contribute significantly to core curricular discussions in the department and the school.
Because San Francisco University High School is a college preparatory school, we seek employees who are well educated in their disciplines, who are devoted to the love of learning, and who will contribute to the school’s invigorating intellectual climate. Throughout the school, we seek to hire culturally competent adults who are stimulating and supportive in their work with students and who share our belief in the moral and educational value of diversity.
Candidates should have a significant history, three years or more, of successful high school teaching; graduate study in History or related fields is highly desirable.
Candidates should submit an online application and include a resume, the names and contact information for three references, and a letter of intent describing their experience, their interest in the position, and their potential contributions to the school. The application can be found at: http://www.sfuhs.org/page.cfm?p=3723
