Head-Royce School is seeking an Upper School Science teacher, with expertise teaching Chemistry and a commitment to using the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) framework for teaching science. While Chemistry is a necessity, candidates who can teach Physics or Biology in addition are preferred.

The School seeks applicants who have experience in culturally responsive education and an understanding of how adolescents learn. Head-Royce teachers participate beyond the classroom as advisors and also as affinity group and club leaders.
Skills
Demonstrated knowledge and practice of culturally responsive teaching and learning.
Collaborative, flexible colleague with Upper School science teaching experience;
Clear communicator with students, colleagues, and parents;
Demonstrated knowledge of a child’s social/emotional development and developmentally appropriate curriculum;
Demonstrated understanding of and curiosity regarding curriculum design, varied pedagogical approaches as well as different styles and types of assessment.
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in related field;
Understanding of and experience in applying best practices in anti-racist education;
2-5 years teaching experience, and demonstrated desire to teach in the Upper School.
Ability to participate in an outdoor education trip for 3-4 nights (additional stipend paid)
Ability to provide Background as well as TB clearance
Additional Qualifications
Advanced degrees/certification are desirable in science and/or education.
$75,000 – $125,000 a year
Salary prorated depending on percentage of full-time employment.
