The Berkeley School
The Berkeley School, a progressive independent school in the East Bay portion of the San Francisco Bay Area, seeks a full-time faculty member to join our multicultural, learner-centered community as an assistant teacher in a fourth/fifth grade mixed aged classroom.

The teacher in this position, through mentorship with the lead teacher, has responsibility for assisting in teaching reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, social/emotional learning, social justice/anti-bias, and service learning. They assume duties including recess and lunch supervision and attend meetings during the day and after school.
Candidates must have a B.A. and some experience working with elementary aged children; candidates in teacher training programs preferred. Ideal candidates will:
- demonstrate positive classroom management skills;
- have familiarity with progressive, inquiry-based pedagogy;
- be committed to equity and cultural responsiveness;
- communicate effectively with a diverse group of students, colleagues, and families;
- show comfort with technology use.
