San Francisco University High School, a highly-selective independent coeducational day school enrolling 410 students, seeks a full-time Director of Admissions and Financial Aid to begin July 1, 2018.

The Director of Admissions and Financial Aid at San Francisco University High School reports to the Head of School, serves on the senior administrative team, and leads a well-established team in all aspects of the school’s outreach, admissions, financial aid, and enrollment activities to enroll qualified students appropriate to its mission and core values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Director of Admissions and Financial Aid will:

  • build a strategy of outreach and communications to attract and recruit families whose children will benefit as students from the school’s unique culture and program;
  • formulate and execute on strategic admission and enrollment policies and practices;
  • lead a team of other admission professionals (and a faculty committee) to ensure a successful admissions process;
  • work closely with business office to coordinate enrollment and financial aid planning and implementation;
  • foster high ethical standards, integrity, and respect for colleagues, alumni, current and prospective parents, and students throughout the admissions process; and
  • be sensitive to economic, cultural, and other equity issues present in the enrollment of a diverse student body.

Desired Experience, Expertise, and Attributes

  • At least five years’ experience in an independent school or small college setting
  • Proven success in leading a selective admissions program in an independent school
  • A bachelor’s (master’s degree preferred) in a related field
  • Experience using data as a tool for decision-making
  • Experience relating to/and or presenting to a Board of Trustees
  • Flexibility and creativity in a fast-moving office environment
  • Exceptional public speaking and writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate and participate with a strategic senior leadership team
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Understands and promotes the value of diversity within a school
  • Remains curious, informed, and current about admission and financial aid trends, data, marketing, and analysis
  • Strong communicator — verbal and written — and an excellent listener
  • Ability to easily build relationships and trust with both returning and new families
  • Eagerness to collaborate with faculty and other administrative departments
  • Confident and collaborative leader
  • Warm, welcoming, and supportive toward prospective students and their families while being able to balance their expectations
  • Interest in and commitment to being a highly visible member of the school community both on and off campus

The Director of Admissions and Financial Aid will take on other duties as may be assigned from time-to-time by the Head of School, and must be willing to work evenings and occasional weekends to fulfill responsibilities
