Katherine Delmar Burke School is an independent K-8 all girls’ school located on a 3.5-acre campus
in San Francisco. Burke’s is one of California’s leading elementary schools with a 100-year tradition of
educational excellence. The school combines strong academic and co-curricular programs with an
emphasis on project-based learning and personal growth in a diverse and inclusive community. We
emphasize the development of fundamental and higher level critical thinking skills in an atmosphere of
creativity, exploration, academic rigor and joyful learning.
After School Lead Teacher:
This job will start in late August and is for the 2019-20 school year. The lead teacher will work with the
program director to run Burke’s after-school program for Lower School students (Kindergarten
through 4th grade). Our after-school program provides a variety of activities, crafts, homework time,
supervised free play and a safe place for our students to relax after school. Some full-day childcare days
are also a part of this position which will include greater opportunities for fun craft curriculums and
field trips in the community.
We are seeking a teacher who has experience creating and implementing programming across a range of
age groups, working with large groups of children, and has an interest and knowledge of outdoor and
indoor games. Our ideal candidate is interested in working collaboratively with our After School staff
and maintaining a welcoming and inclusive community. We are looking for someone who is creative,
flexible, energetic and organized. This position requires a person who is comfortable maintaining
regular communication with faculty, staff, and parents.
12 ECE Units
Monday-Thursday, 1:30-5:30 pm
Friday, 2:00-5:30 pm
Approximately 20 hours per week (some full-time weeks may be available).
