Redwood Day

Job Description and Desired Qualifications

The 6-8 Interim Health Educator will facilitate lessons on a variety of health and wellness topics. This is a part-time position, reporting to the Middle School Director. The course load consists of three sections/classes of 8th grade through early March and then three sections/classes of 6th grade from March through June. The work schedule is every other day in the 6-day cycle, approximately 2-3 days per week, with the earliest start time for a given class being 11:00 a.m. The Interim Health Educator will provide a developmentally sensitive, comprehensive, and holistic health education curriculum for middle school students. Additionally, this teacher will have a strong commitment to getting to know each student, the ability to build genuine relationships, to lead lessons on sensitive topics, including sexuality, LGBTQ, drugs and alcohol, and relationships, and to differentiate instruction for a diverse group of students.

 

This is a part-time position, approximately 15 hours/week (.375 FTE), that begins immediately.

Essential Requirements:

  • BA in science, public health, or equivalent field of study
  • Experience in working with middle school aged students and leading/facilitating discussions around human development
  • Candidate must have a natural rapport with children and good classroom management skills.
