6-7 Science Teacher

Job Description and Desired Qualifications
The 6-7 Grades Science teacher will facilitate the transition from an elementary school program to middle school as part of the core 6th grade teaching team and partner with the 7-8 science teacher. The course load consists of three sections of 6th grade environmental science and one section of 7th grade life science. The ideal candidate will also have experience with experimental design. This teacher will have a strong commitment to meeting the learning needs of each student, a teaching style that supports differentiation of instruction, a collaborative spirit, and an interest in building a community. Additional responsibilities include active involvement in student advisory, student activities, collaborative teacher meetings, supervisory duties and outdoor education trips.

This is a full-time position, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays for faculty/staff meetings) beginning in August 2018.

Essential Requirements:

• BA in science
• Classroom teaching experience in science, especially at the middle school level
• Candidate must have a natural rapport with children and good classroom management skills.

Desired Qualifications and Traits:

• Masters Degree in specific subject area, Masters in Education, or teaching credential
