Humanities Seminar Teacher

Part-Time Position: Humanities Seminar Teacher
Expected Beginning Date: 2014-2015 school year

Position Description:
3/4 time Upper School Humanities teacher, grades 11-12
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching three junior/senior literature and history seminars per semester: Asian-American Literature, African-American Literature and Gay Pride (history seminar) in the fall semester; Race in the United (history seminar) and two sections of Children’s Literature in the spring semester
  • Co-curricular duties as assigned

 
Core Qualifications:
All candidates should demonstrate a commitment to education for democracy, justice, equity, inclusion, community service, and environmental stewardship.  Candidates furthermore should have a Bachelor’s degree in History, Literature, American Studies or Ethnic Studies (or extensive experience teaching one of these disciplines), at least three years of teaching experience, a passion for working with young people, and a desire to take part in a dynamic and diverse community. 
 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • MA in History, Literature, American Studies or Ethnic Studies
  • Academic background in and/or experience teaching LGTBQ History
  • Academic background in and/or experience teaching Ethnic Studies courses
