Hillbrook School is seeking a full-time 1st grade teacher who will teach, and participate in grade-level activities that support the divisional program.

Hillbrook School is a co-ed, independent, JK–8 school located in Los Gatos, California on a recently renovated 14 acre campus. Since its founding in 1935, the school has provided an extraordinary educational experience that fosters a love of learning in our students and helps them develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to achieve their highest individual potential in school and in life. Our talented faculty delivers a differentiated program that provides students with a unique blend of challenging academics, life skills, and service opportunities. The school has 315 students and a student/teacher ratio of 7:1.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach 1st grade, including language arts, mathematics and social studies

  • Implement the school’s social emotional curriculum, which is based on the Responsive Classroom and Developmental Design

  • Provide a hands-on, inquiry-based style of teaching; manage collaborative learning groups; integrate technology into the curriculum

  • Collaborate and co-teach with colleagues, including Resident Teachers, with a focus on differentiated instruction

  • Actively participate in a faculty culture that is committed to being at the leading edge of K-8 education

  • Reports to the Lower School Head

Qualifications:

  • A love of elementary children

  • Master’s degree and five years teaching experience preferred

  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and learning in a dynamic, 21st century school community

  • Ability to work in a collegial, collaborative environment

  • A growth mindset, active sense of humor, warm personality, and excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency in educational technology
