Schools of the Sacred Heart San Francisco is seeking excellent candidates for a High School Academic Support Director for the 2014-2015 school year.
Four halls of learning, one Sacred Heart mission, for 125 years in San Francisco: Schools of the Sacred Heart is an independent, Catholic family of schools committed to academic excellence within the context of a Christian, faith-based community. Our sibling elementary and high schools offer a contemporary approach to single-sex education in a vibrant co-ed community. The schools are organized into four academic divisions, each led by a Head, with a central administration and a shared mission, rooted in the centuries-old tradition of the Society of the Sacred Heart.
Convent of the Sacred Heart High School is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and experienced educator to serve as Academic Support Director for the 2014-2015 school year. The academic support director is charged with supporting all students in developing the academic skills necessary for their success in the school's academic program. The ASD is especially involved in ninth grade students' transition to high school, offering direct instruction in skills for test preparation, daily time management, and general study skills. Most importantly, the ASD supports the academic programs of students with diagnosed learning differences, and works with faculty and parents to ensure that learning differences and strategies for intervention are well understood and supported in the school community. In addition to serving as the school's testing coordinator, the ASD manages student records and data, including supporting the Head of School with periodic grade updates to parents and working with faculty to interpret trends in student test results.
Competitive candidates will have a background in special education, educational neuroscience, secondary education, or the like, and will be well-versed in educational technology and the special needs of students with learning differences in independent high schools. Experience as a classroom teacher is a plus. 5-10 years experience and a relevant master's degree strongly preferred.
