Fourth Grade Teacher -2013-14

Head-Royce School:

Responsibilities:

The Lower School fourth grade teacher is responsible for teaching a contained classroom of approximately 20 students. Fourth grade teachers are responsible for the curriculum in language arts, math, science, and social studies. In addition the fourth grade teacher is responsible for an integrated curriculum, which supports social, emotional and character growth, multiculturalism and ecoliteracy. The fourth grade teacher receives support but takes the lead in developing service learning curriculum and projects, field trips and a booth for the annual fair.

Lower School faculty are also responsible for extra duties including lunch duty, communicating with parents including two conferences a year, serving on committees and participating in the life of the community. The school seeks applicants who have a strong academic background, experience in multicultural education, an understanding of children, and a genuine fondness for working with students.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant will have at least a Bachelor’s degree with a credential or Master’s in Education preferred. In addition, the candidate will have experience teaching elementary school children, and will have familiarity with the best pedagogical approaches to teaching in the upper elementary grades.
