San Francisco Day School is seeking an experienced Elementary grade classroom teacher. SFDS seeks a teacher who likes and understands children, who knows and communicates the subject matter well, and who hopes to play an active role in the San Francisco Day School community. As described in the NAIS Principles of Good Practice, an effective SFDS teacher has thorough knowledge, uses a variety of teaching techniques, establishes positive relationships with students, collaborates with colleagues, initiates professional development, supports the mission, serves outside the classroom, adheres to professional standards and models integrity and respect.

The position includes serving as an Lower School grade homeroom teacher, in cooperation with an Associate Teacher, for one class of approximately 22 students and teaching language arts, social studies, and mathematics; the teacher is expected to create a classroom environment that reflects and promotes the mission of San Francisco Day School, and to work collaboratively with others on the grade team and larger school staff to promote the general well-being of the grade level and the school community.

We seek someone with 3-5 years’ grade level experience, with an emphasis in early education, and a strong curricular background. A Bachelor’s degree is required.
