The director of marketing and communications will be an integral part of the school’s leadership team, reporting directly to the head of school. In addition, the director will have the rare opportunity to be part of the founding leadership team of a new PK-12 school which will build on the foundation of, and more than double the 400-student size of, the existing PK-8 school. This individual will be responsible for articulating and promoting, in partnership with the head of school and the school’s senior administrative leadership team, the goals, vision, and image–externally and internally–of the existing and the new expanded school. We are looking for a strategic and visionary thinker, an experienced and creative communicator, and a hands-on doer, who is also capable of leading a multi-disciplinary team of staff, consultants, and volunteers. Experience in an independent school and/or educational environment is strongly preferred though not required.
Proven strategic and creative marketing and communications thinker who can support the needs of Nueva’s local, national, and international initiatives including its planned expansion from PK-8 to PK-12.
Exceptional communications skills including writing, editing, production, and public relations via print, web, and social media channels.
Demonstrated project management skills.
Strong team player and active collaborator.
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple initiatives.
Understanding of independent school, college, or nonprofit culture.
Familiarity with current software, technologies, and practices including use of web and social media platforms.
Bachelor’s degree required. A master’s degree is preferred; for example, an MBA with a concentration in marketing or a master’s in communications.
Develop and implement new and existing strategic branding, marketing, communications and public relations plans and programs for the school, including though not limited to strategic expansion, admissions, advancement, internal and external communications and publications, and various local, national and international initiatives.
Oversee and manage annual marketing and communications calendar for all key print, web, and social media communications.
Promote consistent branding, marketing, and communications standards across the organization.
Manage direct reports – communications associate and webmaster – and coordinate with agencies, consultants, colleagues and volunteers.
This is a full-time position, reporting to the head of school. Compensation commensurate with experience.
