Chemistry and Biology Teacher (Full Time)


Lick-Wilmerding High School in San Francisco is a college preparatory, co-educational day school serving approximately 460 students from grades 9-12. Founded in 1895 as a technical arts school and tuition free until 1972, LWHS has a long history of welcoming and supporting students from all walks of life and prides itself on being a private school with public purpose. At LWHS, the average full time teacher workload is 72 students, the students are motivated, and the compensation is generous. Lunch is included in the comprehensive benefits package for faculty and staff.

Successful teaching candidates will have developed a thoughtful teaching practice, have three years of teaching experience at a minimum, have earned a teaching credential, masters degree, or equivalent experience, hold a deep love of high school students, and know that teachers at the high school level serve as role models and educators both inside and outside the classroom. Flexibility and a sense of humor are required.


Lick-Wilmerding High School seeks qualified candidates to fill one full time science teacher position (100% FTE with benefits).


The position includes teaching 3 sections of sophomore chemistry and 1 section of freshman biology. Both classes are introductory level and meet for 75 minutes every other day.


The ideal candidate will have a deep passion and knowledge of the subject matter and a commitment to hands-on, student-centered teaching practices. We seek thoughtful, energetic, and passionate teachers who are committed to using multiple teaching modalities, hands-on experimentation, and various forms of assessment in the classroom. We are also looking for genuine, kind colleagues and all-around "school people" who want to participate in and contribute to our vibrant community.
