School Description:
The Bentley School is an independent, coeducational college preparatory day school, grades K-12. As a community, Bentley represents thirty-five different geographic locales, from Alameda Island to Vallejo, from Pleasanton to North Berkeley, from Oakland to Walnut Creek. The ethnic diversity of our families is also broad. From India to Iran, from Germany to New Zealand, plus much, much more; the school’s population creates a deep sense of global connectedness.

Building upon the strong academic values and reputation for excellence of the K-8 program in Oakland, Bentley opened the Upper School campus in Lafayette in the fall of 1998. With our rigorous and inspired core curriculum, wide-ranging arts courses, and energetic, talented faculty, our program has grown rapidly. Our course offerings include traditional core classes and AP courses along with a wide variety of electives in every discipline. Small classes and low student-teacher ratio create an environment, which is both challenging and nurturing. Every teacher seeks to know and engage each student as an individual. The Bentley community is shaped by an ideal of understanding and respect for the rights and individuality of others. In every aspect of school life we follow our mission to inspire excellence, achievement, and character by engaging students’ intellect and creativity.

The Bentley School seeks a staff that reflects the broad range of diversity in the Bay Area. We actively support equal opportunity for all people and encourage people of color and LGBT candidates to apply.
