Applicants should have a teaching credential; 3-5 years teaching experience, preferably at a private independent school; and ideally hold a B.A./B.S. degree with significant coursework in mathematics, writing and reading. An advanced degree in education is highly preferable, as is experience with curriculum mapping. In addition to teaching academic classes, all faculty share in daily supervision duties at the school. Strong interpersonal skills, a good sense of humor, and flexibility are essential.
This individual will have strong math instructional skills as well as excellent skills in teaching literacy and writing. Candidates should be strong writers in their own right. Emphasis will be placed on the ability to develop and implement a dynamic curriculum that will meet the varied needs of the student population through multiple learning modalities. Assessing students and differentiating instruction within a given class level is essential. The applicant should be able to demonstrate a strong background in current best practices in education and effectively apply these to her/his teaching. Strong communication skills with parents and students and the ability to collaborate with other members of the faculty are a must. Creating a warm, engaging classroom environment in combination with an academically demanding curriculum are vitally important parts of our program. Training in our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program is required and provided.

This full-time position does include benefits. Hours are minimally 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a weekly faculty meeting until 4:30, although team planning meetings may require additional time. Occasional evening and weekend commitments are required throughout the school year, as well.
