Associate Director of Advancement: Annual Giving

Position Description —
The Associate Director of Advancement: Annual Fund is part of an energetic, fast-paced, collegial department that includes alumni relations, communications, and fundraising. S/he is responsible for developing programs, activities, and communications that will increase unrestricted revenue for The Athenian Annual Fund, increase the percentage of participation, and engage volunteers effectively. S/he will work closely with alumni and advancement team members on messaging, solicitation, volunteer management, recognition and stewardship. Some evening and weekend work required.

Primary Responsibilities —
Annual Fund Campaign
• Lead The Athenian Annual Fund to meet the School’s fundraising goals
• Work closely with the Director of Advancement, volunteer leadership, and members of the Advancement team to design the strategy, theme/messaging, and timeline for The Athenian Annual Fund.
• Organize constituency segmentation and solicitation appeal levels
• Coordinate and manage campaign kick-offs and phone-a-thons
• Write annual fund appeals to all constituencies and manage the design of collateral materials
• Recruit, train, manage and steward annual fund volunteers
• Solicit all School constituencies, including alumni and parents of alumni, for unrestricted annual gifts
• Provide reports on annual fund performance, metrics, and statistics
Additional Responsibilities —
• Assist in planning and staffing Advancement Office events as needed
• Participate in office projects
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements —
• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 3-5 years of experience in related non-profit fundraising/development work. Experience at an independent school a plus.
• Appreciation for and ability to clearly articulate the mission of The Athenian School
• Strong computer and technical skills, including work experience with Raiser’s Edge (or other comprehensive database management programs)
• Detail-oriented, with strong analytical and data management skills
• Strong self-motivation and the ability to work collegially and collaboratively as a team member
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and relate well to students, parents, faculty, staff, and others while maintaining appropriate confidentiality
