Job Summary

The Communications & Community Relations Associate supports Branson’s communication strategy and champions Branson’s new brand and strategic vision to deliver high quality, effective communications for all communities of the school – students, parents and families, current and former faculty & staff, alumni and alumni families, current and former trustees, and our neighbors in Ross. The Communications Associate must be an experienced and effective communicator, skilled in writing and creating compelling digital content for a variety of audiences. Fluency in both English and Spanish is preferred.

 

This is a full-time, exempt position, located on Branson’s campus in Ross, with a projected start date of June 2021. The Communications & Community Relations Associate reports to the Director of Communications & Marketing, with oversight from the Head of School and Chief Advancement Officer.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

This role is in two parts.

 

School Communications & Marketing (+/- 75% FTE):

In collaboration with the Communications Director and in support of the school-wide communications strategy:

Create original content for the school highlighting the classroom experience, arts, athletics, community engagement, campus community, and events for use across channels (website, social media, print collateral, etc.)
Create content and work in our Finalsite website CMS (content management system) for the rollout of Branson’s new website; manage new content, evergreen content, and media on the current website
Maintain the school’s master communications calendar
Implement the school’s social media strategy across multiple social and networking platforms (@bransonschool and @bransonalumni on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, BransonConnect) – including maintaining a content calendar,  creating and sourcing content, and social advertising – in support of the school’s communications and admissions goals
Coordinate the school’s new Spanish translation program across all core communications
Manage and contribute to the school’s weekly e-newsletter and quarterly alumni newsletter
Assist school departments with their annual communications projects (admissions collateral, alumni and parent fundraising campaigns, curriculum guides and handbooks), providing project management, writing, and editing support, and collaborating with outside designers
Assist with creating and editing basic videos as needed
Assist with media relations and work with reporters as needed
Support parent relations, alumni relations, and neighborhood relations as needed

 

Community Relations & Town of Ross/ Conditional Use Permit (CUP) Process Support (+/- 25% FTE):

In collaboration with the Board Chair, CFOO, and Head of School:

Work with external Communications consultant to support the Town of Ross CUP process
Coordinate neighborhood relations for Town of Ross updates and school events that may have community impact
Coordinate direct outreach to key supporters
Coordinate neighborhood committee in collaboration with the Executive Assistant to the Head of School, including biannual meetings
Support other aspects of the process as needed

 

Key Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or marketing preferred
2-4 years of experience in a marketing or communications-related role
Experience in writing, copywriting, and content development
Experience and expertise in social media – content creation and program coordination – for an organization or company
Demonstrated project management skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in working with a diverse range of colleagues and internal clients
Fluency and strong writing and editing skills in Spanish preferred
Experience with basic office software (Microsoft Office or Google suite, Google calendars) and interest in learning more
Experience with basic graphic design, website content management systems, and video editing a plus
Collaborative team player with ability to juggle multiple projects and constituencies
Attention to detail and adherence to deadlines
Ability to demonstrate our four core values and support our mission statements through collaboration, professionalism, and critical reflection
Ability to pass state and federal background check, fingerprinting, and provide a recent negative TB test or screening
